Fresh Fall Morning
The fresh fall morning cocktail is inspired by this Bath and Body Works fragrance:
About the fragrance
I purchased this hand soap in 2024. I believe I had previously owned it in a wallflower fragrance plugin, but I am not completely sure. It is currently unavailable online, but hopefully it will be back next fall.
The scent notes listed for this fragrance are:
Citrus zest
Woodland sage
Red delicious apples
Designing the cocktail
I used Sprite for the mixer to represent the citrus note. Any lemon-lime flavored soda or sparkling water would work. I also added Grand Marnier for additional citrus flavor. I used apple vodka for the apple note. For the sage note, I used sage elixir (previously used in Warm Ocean Breeze) from Floral Elixir Co and added dried sage as a garnish. Fresh sage would work as well.
Recipe
1 oz Grand Marnier or other orange liqueur
1 oz apple vodka
½ oz sage syrup
6 oz lemon-lime soda or sparkling water
Fresh or dried sage
Place two ice cubes in a glass. Add orange liqueur, apple vodka, and sage syrup. Pour in lemon-lime soda or sparkling water. Garnish with sage. For a non-alcoholic version, omit the orange liqueur and apple vodka and add orange simple syrup and apple simple syrup.
The finished cocktail
I would give this cocktail an average rating. Though I enjoy each flavor individually, they seemed to clash with one another when combined. The citrus flavors overwhelmed the apple and sage. I enjoyed Warm Ocean Breeze, which featured only sage and coconut flavors, better, suggesting that sage works best when paired with only one additional flavor. The Grand Marnier turned the cocktail a translucent orange, giving it a seasonally appropriate look, and the dried sage made it visually interesting as well. The sugary carbonated nature of the Sprite mixer makes this cocktail best suited for dinnertime or the evening, deeming its name inappropriate. Cool Fall Evening might be a better name. I would recommend this cocktail to anyone who likes fruit flavors and sage and doesn't mind tasting multiple flavors at once.
