Gingham Gorgeous
The gingham gorgeous cocktail is inspired by this Bath and Body Works fragrance:
About the fragrance
I purchased this hand soap in 2023. Gingham Gorgeous was introduced earlier in the year as part of the Gingham collection inspired by the original Gingham fragrance, which debuted in 2020 and is the inspiration for another cocktail. It is currently available online as a fine fragrance mist, ultimate hydration body cream, wallflower fragrance, shower gel, eau de parfum, concentrated room spray, daily nourishing body lotion, moisturizing body wash, foaming sugar body scrub, shea butter cleansing bar, hand cream, travel size shower gel, and travel size ultimate hydration body cream.
The scent notes listed for this fragrance are:
Pink strawberries
Peach nectar
Peony blossoms
Designing the cocktail
I used strawberry sparkling water as the mixer. Strawberry soda would work too. For the peach note, I used peach vodka. I also made a peach simple syrup following this recipe from Alpha Foodie, as I felt the peach note needed additional sweetness since the fragrance note was listed as peach nectar. For the peony note, I used the same dried peony petals that I used in Twilight Rose.
Recipe
2 oz peach vodka
½ oz peach simple syrup
6 oz strawberry sparkling water or soda
Peony petals
Place two ice cubes in a glass. Add peach vodka and peach simple syrup. Pour in strawberry sparkling water or soda. Garnish with peony petals. For a non-alcoholic version, omit the peach vodka and increase the peach simple syrup to 1.5 oz.
The finished cocktail
I enjoyed this cocktail. It was sweet and fruity. Its flavor profile would probably best be enjoyed in the summer. My only complaint would be that the peach flavor overpowered the strawberry. The peony petals introduced a bitter element, but I expected that after preparing other cocktails that called for peony petals. The peach syrup gave the cocktail a very pale pink tint, which along with the peony petals made it visually pleasing. I would recommend this cocktail to anyone who likes peaches. People who want a more strawberry-forward cocktail could try replacing half of the peach vodka with plain vodka, omitting half of the peach vodka (if they don't mind a weaker drink), or omitting the peach syrup (if they don't mind the reduced sweetness).
